Making the best of the wet conditions - Mr Baird's Sports Blog
I hope you had a lovely half term break - here's a recap of the sporting week at BGS.
It would be remiss of me not to take this opportunity to congratulate a few of our pupils on their sporting achievements. As I am sure many of you are aware, Nellie Munyard did us all proud with her ‘Lucky Star’ success at Aintree, alongside her two ponies Haari and Brendan. Nellie was fortunate enough to grace the main ring at the Aintree International Equestrian Centre and in a class of 40 entrants, Nellie, with help from Brendan, was picked as the ‘Leeman Lucky Star’, progressing to the Leeman Lucky Star Supreme Champion competition, where she was selected as one of just four finalists! Great work Nellie, we are very proud of you and love hearing all about your equestrian travails!
Further to this, on Tuesday 5th November, four of our pupils took part in the North Yorkshire Cross Country Championships at Dalby Forest, having qualified earlier on in the term from the more localised qualifying competitions. We were delighted to hear of their enjoyment of the event in what were extremely trying conditions – wet, cold and muddy! All four girls did us and themselves proud, with Lottie achieving a hugely commendable 30th place, Frankie a well-deserved 32nd place and with Freya finishing in 62nd and Beatrice in 68th place, all in their respective age groups. They did tremendously well to qualify considering that, these positions lie within all of the children in North Yorkshire. Well done once again!
