Calling all runners - Mr Baird's Sports Blog
We may all be at home and although I am sure that we are all keeping active doing lots of different things like running, cycling, walking, gymnastics, ball sports and so on, but an exciting opportunity has arisen where we can still represent the school in a sporting event. (Enjoy the photo, a throw-back to a sunny summer when we could enjoy the BGS annual sports day!)
The Giggleswick School Virtual Catteral Shield Cross Country is open to all KS2 children and staff who can enter from home. From all of our entries, I will submit the 5 boys’ best times and 5 girls’ times to Giggleswick and we will then be able to see how we have done as a school, based on those times. The virtual race will take place between 5th-7th February so there is time to begin training to get those times down in the meantime. As well as the boys’ and girls’ races, there is also a staff event which I know there will be interest in this! Please look out for the letter attached to this edition of Blazer Post, which will provide you with all of the details that you need to know.
If there are people looking for some physical activities to keep them busy away from the virtual classroom, please do consult Google Classrooms where I will be leaving some ideas and exercises that anyone can do or adapt. I will put the ideas up on a Friday so that they can be done after assembly on the Friday, over the weekend or during the following week. I would love to hear how we all get on with these so please do share any pictures or videos with me!
One video that was great to see was James using the snow as well our rural and undulating environment as an excuse to get his snowboard out. He shared the video in our assembly, and we were able to marvel at his control, balance, and overall skill as he came down the hill. It really was great to see!
If anybody else has anything that they would like to share, then please do get in touch with me via email@example.com.
