Summer sport for all - Mr Baird's Sports Blog

At Belmont Grosvenor School, we are super proud of the number of children who have chosen to make a positive change to the physical activity in their lives.

Given that the response to the opportunity to participate in the Brownlee Foundation Medal Challenge has been so positive, it would seem entirely remiss of me to begin this edition of the sports blog without commending the children on their wonderful ambitions to challenge themselves.

I have been utterly amazed by the motivation shown by the large number children who have chosen to take part in this initiative and thank you also to all the parents who are supporting this. The majority of children in each year group, from Reception to Year 6, have signed up and there has been much discussion among the classes about their participation in the event.

I know that some parents have been helping the children come up with some creative and innovative tasks in order to rise to the challenge laid out for the children. I am also aware that some children are still deciding what exactly they would like to achieve so please do encourage them to speak to a member of the Games department if there are seeking some inspiration.

The challenge does officially begin after half term but I imagine that some are already getting restless to get going and are putting in some extra practice before it all begins. The time we have leading up to the start of the challenge may also allow for those challengers who are unsure about what to do, to give their possible choices a bit of an audition.

As ever, if you have anything that you would like to share with me about your child’s outside of school commitments, then please do feel free to contact me on Similarly, if your child is beginning to put some practice in for their Brownlee Foundation Medal Challenge task, please do feel free to email me and share this with me, as I would love to see how they are all getting on as well as see what some of the children, who were unsure, have decided to work on.

Have a great weekend!
