BGS pupils to compete in national biathlon championships
A group of pupils are travelling to London this weekend to compete in the British Schools' Modern Biathlon Championships.
A team of 11 pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 at the independent co-educational Harrogate school will be competing at Crystal Palace on Saturday and Sunday.
It is the fourth time Belmont Grosvenor pupils have qualified for the prestigious sporting event, which sees the girls compete on Saturday and boys on Sunday.
Nick Wield, BGS biathlon co-ordinator, said the whole school was proud of the pupils' achievement in qualifying for the Pentathlon GB event.
Belmont Grosvenor School, set in 20-acres of grounds just three miles from Harrogate, welcomes boys and girls from three months to 11 years. Children at BGS begin swimming lessons at the age of three in the school's own pool, and pupils take part in a wide range of sports and compete in sporting fixtures throughout the year including pop lacrosse, hockey, football, tennis, netball and tag rugby.
