House System

Our vibrant house system plays a key role in the pastoral, academic and sporting life of our school. Children are allocated a place in one of the four houses – each named after a road on the Duchy area of Harrogate - and remain in this house for their time at school. Each week house points awarded for good work, effort or behaviour are totalled up and the winning house is announced in the celebration of achievement assembly. There then follows great effort on behalf of the other three houses to gain the lead by the time the next week’s results are announced.

All children from Y3 – Y6 represent their house in inter house fixtures and compete enthusiastically in our all inclusive sports day. Trophies and shields are awarded and are proudly collected in assembly by the house captains.

Perhaps the most important role houses play is in fostering a sense of community within our school. Children eat lunch in their house group and plan charitable activities together. House meetings are held each term lead by house staff and house captains, to engender a sense of support and togetherness.
