Swimming Galas
U9-U11 Swimming Gala v Brackenfield
BGS swimming gala against Brackenfield, Tuesday 24 January. We didn’t do too well on the first couple of races but caught up as we went along. On the relays we did better and that meant we got double points. The final scores were under 9s BGS 44 and Brackenfield 44, under 10s BGS 37 Brackenfield 49 and under 11s BGS 46 Brackenfield 42. The overall scores were BGS 127 and Brackenfield 135. Well done to the whole team and great effort.
BGS v Pocklington and Reeds
The BGS swimming team competed against Pocklington and Reeds. It was slightly different this time because there were 3 teams swimming, so each team only had one person swimming in each race. The first race was U9s back stoke with Archie Palmer swimming and we came 2nd and we came 2nd in all the other back stroke races too. Next was breast stroke and we managed to come 1st in the u9s and U10s but unfortunately in the U11s we came 3rd. Next was butterfly and we came 2nd in the U10s and 3rd in the U11s. The last single race was the front crawl and we came 2nd, 2nd and 3rd. Then the relays began which meant double points and this time we had a breast stroke relay. First though was the medley relay and the U9s came 1st, U10s 2nd and U11s 2nd. Now there was the breast stroke replay and we all came 2nd. Last but not least was the front crawl relay. U9s came 1st, U10s came 2nd and U11s came 3rd. Overall the scores were U9s BGS 36, Pocklington 35 and Reeds 19. U10s BGS 32, Pocklington 48 and Reeds 16. U11s BGS 24, Pocklington 50 and Reeds 25. Totals: BGS 94, Pocklington 133 and Reeds 59. Altogether we came 2nd , Reeds came 3rd and Pocklington came 1st. Well done to the whole team for trying.

Diving news 25th May 2011
Well Done to Catherine Garnett & Oliver Whittaker who have been invited to join the Harrogate TID Diving Scheme. They were selected along with 10 other children to join this scheme. They now have to training 3 times a week which will hopefully take them to competition level. Catherine has already come 1st place in a Tynemouth Diving competition and 6th out of 14 in a Sheffield Diving competition. Oliver came 3rd in the boys Tynemouth Competition. Congratulations to both.
