A school curriculum must be fresh and vibrant. It should allow children to be challenged, make them work hard and give them the thrill of success.

Our curriculum captures the imagination of the children. Based on the solid foundations of English, Maths and computer skills it appeals to the differing and developing needs of our pupils.

Our children enjoy the special indoor and outdoor learning environment which BGS provides.

• Confidence in the basic skills of English, Maths and ICT is the foundation of all that we do.

• The Nursery children follow the EYFS curriculum with the added advantage of specialist teachers in Music, Drama, Dance and Swimming.

• As they move through the school the children build a knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live through Science, Geography, History, Religious Studies and PSHE.

• A particular feature of our school is the teaching of Modern Foreign Languages from Reception to Y6.

• Creativity is nurtured in specialist taught Art, DT, Music and Drama lessons.

• Children enjoy PE, Games and swimming, taught by specialist teachers. Older children have fixtures against other schools and regularly do well in regional and national competitions.

Our curriculum, which goes well beyond the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum, ensures BGS pupils achieve high standards, promotes the ability to work independently and collaboratively and develops a strong belief in the value of learning.
