SDS Swimming Gala

George Ward in 4H competed in the Harrogate Area SDS Swimming Gala last Sunday at the Hydro. He won Gold in the Breast Stroke and Silver in the Freestyle. The swimming gala was for anyone who is following the Swimming Development

Scheme and they competed against people at the same level from all over the Harrogate area. Each event was split into around 5 heats of 7 swimmers and then the medals were presented to the 3 fastest times overall, by the Deputy Major.

George narrowly missed a medal in the backstroke as well. Well done George, a fantastic achievement!

Gala vs Highfield

On the 27th January BGS swimming team played Highfield away. The U11s swam first followed by the U10s, U9s and the U8s. The U8 team swam well with Louis Brooksbank and Edward Garnett swimming extremely hard but unfortunately the U8s lost 24-34 to Highfield. The U9s, U10s, and U11s continued to swim very hard but the U9s lost 28-40, the U10s lost 33-35 and the U11s lost 28-40. The final score was 113 to BGS 149 to Highfield. Special mentions go to all the Y3s for trying their best in such a difficult match.
