Eli Wright has been selected to play for the U11 Lord’s Taverners Cricket team, representing North Yorkshire in a series of fixtures against other Yorkshire sides this summer. Nominated by his coach at Glasshouses C.C., he played a trial for four hours in the pouring rain on 6th June, on a wicket lovingly prepared by Mr Furniss! Sadly Freddie Wright and Robert Wilmore missed out on the initial selection process as they were away at PGL, but had they been around BGS might have had more Taverners to its name! There’s a match on 4th July at the Birstwith Cricket Ground so local support would be very welcome.

On Friday 11tthJune BGS U9s played Ripon Choir away. We lost the toss and batted first. We batted well, hitting good shots getting the ball into space and got a good score. When we were bowling we did some great bowls getting 3 wickets. We did some great stops in the field from their batsman. They did get a good score as well. The final score was 256-252 to Ripon Choir. Special mentions go to Evie Barnard and Samantha Henderson for doing very well in their first cricket match for school. Well played everyone. By George Beeley
