Announcement from the Chairman of the Governors
Belmont Grosvenor Headteacher Jane Merriman is to retire at the end of the academic year after leading the co-educational prep school and nursery to it's second 'outstanding' and 'excellent' Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection in a row.
In an announcement, Mr Gordon Milne, Chair of the Governors of Belmont Grosvenor School, recognised Mrs Merriman's outstanding service to the school and her commitment and contribution to BGS's success.
The Governors will now begin the process of identifying Mrs Merriman's successor, who will build on Belmont Grosvenor's reputation as one of the leading indepedent co-educational prep schools in the area.

I am writing to you all again so soon after the wonderful news of our inspection report to let you know that Mrs Merriman, after 13 years of outstanding service to the school, has decided to take early retirement. She will leave us at the end of the summer holiday.
Mrs Merriman’s husband Tony retired last year from his teaching post and they were overjoyed recently by the arrival of a grandchild so there are excellent reasons for Mrs Merriman to leave us earlier than we would have hoped. She is however going out on a high note, leaving the school in fabulous good health with an outstanding inspection report and a significant legacy of improvements and developments over her period as Headteacher.
The process of choosing her replacement has started and the post will shortly be advertised locally and nationally and the governors will be interviewing candidates before the end of the term. I hope to be able to make an announcement by the beginning of the summer term or earlier if possible. I am sure we will have some good candidates to choose from.
