Mandarin Club

Some independent and maintained secondary schools are introducing Oriental languages to the school curriculum, as an alternative to more traditional European languages. At Belmont Grosvenor school we are now running a weekly Mandarin Chinese club, held during morning break on Tuesdays. We are using the excellent Dorling Kindersley Easy Peasy Chinese course, which not only introduces young learners to the spoken tonal language and concept of written characters, but also gives much insight into the culture of China. Children will learn key vocabulary for meeting and greeting, as well as key food and drink items and numbers .The course runs for one term.
