Library
The main school library and dedicated pre-prep library play a key role in the development of our literacy programme here at BGS. To help encourage reading and research skills, we give our children plenty of opportunity to spend time in the libraries. Both of these, together with the class libraries, are accessible to all members of the school community and are equipped to support and enrich the skills of reading for pleasure and independent learning across the curriculum.
All year groups have timetabled visits to the library each week. As a school we are committed to developing a love of books and the main library is used as a venue for visiting authors, book group meetings, book week activities and displays.
Using thumb print technology, our borrowing system is simple to use for all pupils making choosing the right book even easier and great fun.
Parent volunteers coordinate the use of the libraries, ably supported by a team of children acting as school librarians. The main libraries and class libraries are secure and attractive places for children to browse and work. They play a vital part in fostering a love of literature and learning.
